Professional Ceramic Coating & Paint Protection

Professional ceramic coating provides durable paint protection while enhancing gloss and making your vehicle easier to clean and maintain. At Quality Control Detailing, we don’t simply apply the same coating package to every car. We assess the condition of the paintwork, how the vehicle is used, where it is kept and what you want to achieve before recommending the most appropriate preparation and protection.

Some vehicles may only require thorough decontamination and preparation before coating, while others can benefit from paint enhancement or paint correction first. Our aim is to prepare the paint correctly and apply a protection system that suits the vehicle rather than automatically recommending the most expensive option.

Ceramic coatings can help protect paintwork against environmental contamination, UV exposure and everyday road grime while providing strong hydrophobic properties and improved gloss. They are not scratch-proof or stone-chip protection, and their performance and longevity depend on the coating selected, vehicle use and ongoing maintenance.

We provide professional ceramic coating for customers in Windsor, West London, Berkshire and surrounding areas, with mobile application available where conditions and the chosen coating allow. More extensive preparation and coatings requiring controlled curing can be carried out at our private detailing premises in Windsor.

Preparation Before Ceramic Coating

Proper preparation is one of the most important parts of a ceramic coating service. Before applying any coating, we assess the condition of the paintwork and prepare the vehicle appropriately so the coating is applied to a clean, properly prepared surface.

This can include a thorough exterior wash, chemical decontamination to remove iron and tar deposits, and further preparation depending on the condition of the vehicle. Clay-bar decontamination is used where appropriate, but not automatically — claying can introduce light marring, so if a customer does not want the vehicle polished, we assess whether it is actually necessary.

Paint enhancement or paint correction may also be recommended where swirl marks, light scratches or other defects would benefit from being improved before protection is applied. This isn’t compulsory on every vehicle. A new or well-maintained car may only require suitable preparation before coating, while another vehicle may benefit considerably from machine polishing first.

Our approach is simple: correct where necessary, enhance where appropriate and protect properly. We explain the options and recommend the level of preparation that makes sense for your vehicle, expectations and budget.

Ceramic Coating Protection & Aftercare

A professionally applied ceramic coating can make your vehicle easier to clean and maintain while enhancing gloss and providing protection against environmental contamination, UV exposure and everyday road grime. Its hydrophobic properties also help water and dirt release more easily from the surface.

However, ceramic coating should not be treated as an invisible shield. It does not prevent stone chips or make paintwork scratch-proof, and its performance will depend on the coating used, how the vehicle is driven and stored, and how it is maintained afterwards.

We select the protection system according to the vehicle and the customer’s requirements rather than simply recommending the coating with the longest advertised lifespan. Different coatings suit different vehicles, budgets and patterns of use.

Correct maintenance is also important. We provide aftercare guidance so you know how to wash and look after the vehicle properly once it has been coated. Maintenance detailing and periodic decontamination can also be carried out by QC Detailing to help keep the coating and paintwork performing at their best.

Correct. Protect. Maintain. The aim isn’t simply to coat the car — it’s to provide the right preparation, protection and ongoing care for the way you actually use your vehicle.

Frequently Asked Questions About Ceramic Coating
What is Ceramic Coating?

Ceramic coating is a liquid protective product that is applied to a vehicle's paintwork and allowed to bond with the surface. Once properly applied and cured, it creates a durable protective layer that can enhance gloss, provide strong hydrophobic properties and make the vehicle easier to clean and maintain.

A ceramic coating can help protect paintwork from environmental contamination, UV exposure, bird droppings, road grime and other everyday contaminants. However, it does not make the paint scratch-proof and it will not prevent stone chips.

The durability of a ceramic coating varies considerably depending on the product used, preparation, vehicle usage, storage conditions and ongoing maintenance. Rather than choosing a coating purely because of an advertised lifespan, we recommend protection based on the individual vehicle and how it will actually be used.

How much does ceramic coating cost?

The cost of ceramic coating depends on the size and condition of the vehicle, the preparation required, the coating selected and the level of paint enhancement or correction carried out beforehand.

A ceramic coating service following suitable preparation can start from around £250. Where paint enhancement or paint correction is required before the coating is applied, the overall cost will be higher.

We assess each vehicle individually and recommend the level of preparation and protection that makes sense for the condition of the paintwork, how the vehicle is used and the result you want to achieve. This means you only pay for the work your vehicle actually needs rather than being pushed into a fixed package.

What’s the Difference Between Wax and Ceramic Coating?

Wax and ceramic coating both provide protection for vehicle paintwork, but they differ significantly in durability, performance and maintenance.

A traditional car wax sits on the paint surface and can enhance gloss while providing a relatively short-term layer of protection. It will gradually wear away through washing, weather and normal vehicle use and therefore needs to be reapplied more regularly.

A ceramic coating is designed to bond more strongly with a properly prepared surface and generally provides longer-lasting protection. It offers strong hydrophobic properties, helps resist environmental contamination and can make regular washing and maintenance easier.

Ceramic coating isn't automatically the right choice for every vehicle. For some owners, a shorter-term protection product may make more sense depending on budget, vehicle usage and how frequently the car is detailed. At QC Detailing, we recommend the protection that best suits the vehicle rather than assuming the most expensive option is always necessary.
